Maren's Story
My whole life, I wanted to become a vet. For as long as I can remember, that was always my dream, to the point that I did various school based work experiences, with a local vet clinic and loved every minute of it.
I grew up in a non Christian family. Church and faith was not a regular part of my upbringing, apart from the once a year Christmas service visit. When I was a teenager, one of my friends dragged me along to their youth group, which I instantly fell in love with. I had never experienced anything like it. The sense of community, belonging and care for one another. That summer, I went to one of their camps where I met Jesus and gave my life to him. And let me tell you, that completely turned my life around. My youth worker became a very significant adult in my life, as he started to really invest in me, push my love for music and worship but he also helped me discover that God had planted a passion for youth work in me. The rest is history. I didn't become a vet (I still very much love animals though, especially dogs!), instead, I came to England for a gap year with a youth organisation which turned into studying youth work and stepping into ministry...and I wouldn't change it for the world! Seeing young people encounter Jesus, grow confident in who they are and discover their own passions, is the biggest privilege. I love what I get to do and the incredible team I have the privilege of leading and learning from. God is good! |
