I have the privilege of working within Torquay Academy, St Cuthbert Mayne and the local authority Pupil Referral Units (PRU’s) on behalf of LiNX.
I love working in these schools and centres and I always target my work with young people on the fringe of social settings and those who struggle with their behaviour.
I work closely with school’s behaviour centres and those students on the verge of exclusion. Within the PRU setting I work with students who have already been excluded and those who can’t attend school due to medical reasons.
My vision for these young people is to see them redeemed. The definition of ‘redeemed’ is to buy back and recover. I want to see these young people recover their confidence, passion, love for life and place within society. I want to see them move from being outcast and on the fringe back into the centre of society.
Within these centres I do a lot of mentoring, working one to one or within small groups of young people, being a positive role model, developing confidence and self esteem and talking through some of the challenges they face.
My aim this year is to start working within another schools behaviour centre supporting even more young people facing similar challenges.
Personally, I am also part way through my AOG probationary ministry training to become an ordained minister. I feel a strong sense of God’s call on my life into Church leadership in the future and this is a great training programme to further develop skills within me.
Bring on the future!
